Create Your Own Electricity

Friday, January 8th, 2010

We seeking to be energy independent, the easiest and most flexible energy you can generate is electricity. For under 100 dollars you can make your own windmill to make your own electricity that will power your house.Click here to learn how to make your own electricity.

Once you are creating enough energy you can start using it for whatever you wish. Now that you are making your own power; you can use it to power your outer building like a garage with lighting and such. One of the major things that people are doing when they generate their own electricity is that they sell it back to the power company to make a little profit. Once you are making most of your ownpower you will be able to live without any power from the utility company, now isn’t that great.

A Little What You Should Know About Generating Your Electricity

  • If you live in a sunny place you should consider using solar energy.
  • If you have a lot of wind blowing around your area then you should conside using a windmill to make your energy.
  • If you have flowing water near your house then you should consider using micro-hydro, it can generate more energy than wind and solar energy combined.
  • The best way to generate electricity is to use a combination of the power sources.
  • If your house is connected to a grid line, which is when you have electrical power delivered from a utility company you should consider using a “Grid Tie.”
  • But If you aren’t remote or connected to the electrical grid, or want to generate your own power then you should consider a self-contained solution.

How To Generate Generate With Solar Power

You have to think about the location that you put your solar panels before you start making it. The solar panel should be mounted facing south to the sun exposure, which is north-facing in the Southern Hemisphere, up-facing near the equator. Having clear weather most of the year is helpful, plus light overcast conditions are sometimes beneficial.

But what about the angle you ask, well the angle should be adjusted according to your latitude. They should point straight up at any latitude, but sometimes will lose some efficiency and then you will need to build more solar panels. There is nothing wrong about having a lot of solar panels, the more the better.

The fixed mounted solar panels have their own structure which contain housing for batteries and charge controllers. You can place your mounted solar panel on the ground or on your roof, just remember that you have to be able to get at it to maintain it. The fixed mount solar panels do not follow the sun so they are a little less efficient when the sun moves.

The tracking mounts follow the sun to increase efficiency, but they have moving parts which makes it a bit more expansive when building one. Track mounted solar panels are mechanical contraptions which are easily damaged by the weather and the moving part may wear out. So building fixed mounted solar panels might be better for you since they last longer and don’t damage easy by weather or moving parts. All you have to do it build more fixed mounted solar panels and put them at different angles so you can get the efficiency as the track mounted panels.

Here is something that you should remember, if a solar panel says that it will deliver lets say “100 watts” does not mean it will give you that much power the way you had it mounted. You have to consider the weather condition and what time of day it is and even the season that you are in.

How To Generate Your Own Energy With Wind Power

  • Windmills can be bought pre-packages which might mean they are less expensive then the solar panels
  • You might need a special charge controller with a “diverter load,” which is a big resistor, but  can be a 12 or 14 volt electric water heater element.
  • You need the wind speed in your area to make a windmill work well
  • Some windmills can be noisy. But not for you since you are making your own and you will have great  plans that will tell you how to build them correctly
  • Everyone will be able to see it, which might be an “eyesore” to some people
  • Sometimes you will have birds that will kinda not make it though the wind blades, but no worry you can always clean the (if you want too)
  • You need desolated areas where the wind is consistent plus with very few things blocking it like trees or high building. Wind power supplements solar power at night or on cloud days to make energy when your solar panels aren’t.

Start Small Then Grow With Creating Your Own Electricity

When you start building your own power systems you can and should start small so the cost will low. When you are building small, you will have time to learn how to build a solar panel the right way so it works correctly. Then after you get your first one created you will be able to create more with less time and more confidence to get bigger. Many of the grid-attached rooftop systems can be expanded; remember this when you are building your systems. You can use and automatic gate that can be run off solar power, even if the grid is up or not.

You should have a RV or trailers that have deep cycle batteries of at least 60 watts of solar power just to keep the batteries up when it’s not in use. If you are not going to run a generator every day you should have more like 200-400 watts to use.

If you have an outbuilding like a detached garage or shed which does has lights or any kind of power, can be run off solar energy for less than the cost of having it wired to your main house by an electrician. Click here to learn how to make your own electricity
