Make Changes For Yourself And Mother Earth

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

So how’s that 2010 new years resolution coming along? In any case, in the event you’re like many of us, you may have already given up.  It can be extremely difficult to change one habit.  In fact, we could proceed year after year making the identical agreement to ourselves to remove a bad practice.  Subsequently we tend to fail the vow of breaking that habit (sound familiar smokers, habitual soda drinkers, or fast-food eaters?).  It’s a vicious cycle! How do we smash it?

I propose we implement a strategy of changing many uncomplicated things in our lifestyles, immediately, rather than developing only one objective for change.  What if altering in just one way isn’t enough? As we tend to formulate decisions to change, yet in minute ways, we gain momentum and self-belief in our power in making constructive adjustments concerning some of the harder things like working out repeatedly and finally losing that additional weight.  So let’s begin building with the intention of gaining confidence!

I perceive two simple yet important ways I can modify our planet along with myself.  To begin with, I’ll utilize eco friendly reusable or recycled bags rather then plastic one use bags and paper bags when I shop.  Secondly, I’ll keep in mind to implement stainless steel water bottles. You might be shocked as a result of what a constructive sway these two painless routines might have to the world.

These habits are straightforward, painless as well as reasonably priced.  In addition, contrary to common belief, plastic containers and bags are not addictive (we swear, no withdrawals or cravings)!  Many aren’t attentive of how our consumption of these products change our planet’s health.  Once upon a time not way back, we weren’t alert of the destructive effects of cigarettes.  We accepted cigarette smoke for the status quo.  Some of us still smoke or live in places where smoking is allowed inside public spaces.  Using reusable grocery bags and reusable water bottles will be new healthy habits and so easy when compared with something like quitting caffeine, high fructose corn syrup or removing fast food from our diets.  Store a reserve of eco friendly reusable bags inside your vehicle or your tote sac.  Make a minimal investment in a stainless steel reusable water bottle and carry it with you everywhere you go.  You will not simply diminish the detrimental impacts of disposable bag and disposable bottle rubbish in our surroundings, you will also encourage people to create these simple adjustments of their life as well. The best element is how you’ll feel in regards to yourself when you recognize you are now part of the solution, instead of the trouble.  Take a look at the stats along with the facts:

Disposable bag usage:
Plastic bag waste pollutes our land, valleys, ponds, rivers, lakes, as well as oceans.Just since the year began (as of March 1st, 2010), currently its estimated that over 82 Billion plastic bags are consumed inside the USA.
According to the EPA this contributes in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of aquatic mammals (who ingest and subsequently choke or pass away of starvation as a result). In California alone, an estimated 19 billion plastic bags wind up in landfills every year. Although there’s debate concerning which one (plastic opposed to. paper) is worse for our environment, there is no arguments that the widespread adoption of eco friendly reusable shopping bags is by far the perfect solution for this major environmental problem.

Plastic bottle usage:
According to the Container Recycling Institute (CRI), more than 21 billion beverage cans and bottles have been land-filled, trashed and incinerated so far this year (yes just since 2010 kicked off). CRI also reports that Americans buy an estimated 34.6 billion disposable plastic bottles every year and hundreds of millions end up in the same places that disposable bags end up.

We all dream of a day when we finally break loose of our bad habits:  stopping smoking, eliminating fast food in our diet, or just getting off the couch and working out!  You already know you can do it!  Settle on what you can easily change now, and act on it.  So make an easy change in your existence today: Implement a reusable shopping bag and stainless steel water bottles habit and start building momentum for bigger lifestyle improvements that are beginning with your life right now!

Our Responsibility Towards The Children And The Biological Initiative

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

The welfare and well being of the children is awfully important. One of the greatest things for the children is to provide them with organic cloths.

It is greatest because when we provide organic cloths to our children we not only share a healthy convention and absolute our children towards cleaner initiative but also, we give our contribution towards a healthy natural world. The harmless way by which these organic cloths are manufactured make them ideal for the children as well as for the surroundings. The immense scale farming of cotton involves the use of enormous amounts of pesticides and fertilizers which, inevitably enters into the water ways and imbalance the eco system. The ultimate result is formation of dead regions in the ocean where patches and areas become oxygen less leaving lifeless regions in the ocean. When you are choosing the organic cloths you are contributing yourself for the gain of the ecosystem.

Babies get discomforted soon when their cloths are not comfortable or irritating. The discomfort they get from the everyday cloths is due to the face that such cloths contains an anti wrinkle agent called “Formaldehyde” which otherwise has been proven to cause cancer. By evading the contact of this chemical we not only lower their discomfort but also thwart a lot greater problems.

There is a negative side for the organic cloth, the additional care required for the maintenance. Warm water and repeated cycle of drying makes the cotton cloths shrinking faster. They require exact way for washing which is time consuming. People who are exceptionally involved in organic cloths do not deliberate this as a discomfort.

Various who claim with labels that they are in the bandwagon of environment defense in fact might not follow it in its right spirit. This is a limiting factor for the organic cloth.

When you go for organic baby cloth you will have to make your mind up the appropriate organic detergents too. The cotton cloths have got the retention power of holding the chemicals for long. So the benefits accruing by going the organic cloths will be neutralized when the chemical detergents are acquired.

Again you have to think the organic baby care products too. Produced from natural cotton and bamboo, they are stylish and gentle for the tender skin of the babies. Basically they are non toxic and have to be the first certitude.

You will get good information and avenue for placing the preeminent order through internet.

Environmental – Why Leisure & Licensed Trade Require Professional Cleaners

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Two thousand years, ago, a mysterious man named Jesus declared that the poor will always be among us. That was an accurate observation. However, he should have finished the thought by declaring that the wealthy, likewise, will also always be among us. And that’s not necessarily an evil thing.

As the wealthy become wealthier, to a point, so do the rest of us. That’s the result of a material “arms race” that we all participate in. It begins when the wealthy, in the effort to distinguish themselves from the plebes, obtain or create goods that only they can have- “luxury” goods. Possession ignites desire among others, and demand for those goods spreads beyond the wealthy. And where there is demand, there will be suppliers. Either the original purveyors will expand their business by increasing the original supply or one-off’s, or competitors will create knockoffs. Either way, the supply expands, prices drop, and the once-rare items become commonplace and affordable (or lost in a sea of imitators). The wealthy then hunt for new symbols of status. In the meantime, the common person becomes accustomed to a slightly elevated lifestyle, and the cycle of acquisition begins anew.

You need to look for a company whose first point of contact is a visit of the site to understand your needs. They should not provide a quotation until this point to ensure you both know the scope of the work. In this quotation, good cleaning companies provide a fully specified quotation along with a Risk Assessment, a Health and Safety Policy Statement and Insurance documentation. A breakdown of the costs helps you to understand the costs involved so it helps if the cleaning companies’ pricing is fully transparent.

As nature passes from becoming abundant to scarce; as we face unprecedented threats from climate change; as the world’s materially wealthy feel impoverished in their social relationships, and as the bulk of the world’s people become acquainted with democracy and higher living standards, the perfect storm for re-defining luxury is rapidly brewing. Accordingly, a look at the latest blogs and articles on luxury reveal a fresh and welcome trend: “luxury” is moving away from solely being about having. Consciousness about HOW goods are made and obtained, and what side effects they will have on others or the environment, is creeping in. That gorgeous piece of jewelry, for example – is it made from recycled metal, or at least from a mine with proper environmental and labor standards in place? Did that meat come from factory-farmed cattle, or from grass-fed animals raised on predator-friendly ranches? (Or better yet – is it really veg meat from organic, family-farmed soy?) Is that gorgeous plank floor made from old-growth wood, or from forest-certified or reclaimed timber?

What about all those old clothes that your kids have grown out of? Do you have a friend or neighbour that has young kids that would be grateful to receive a load of clothes? Many of us are happy not to have to spend a fortune on clothes that are just going to get grubby and worn through. If you don’t know anyone personally, get them down to the local charity shop if they are still fit to wear. If they are on the grubby side, what about using them as household cloths. Saves you from having to buy cloths to clean your floors, windows or cars and you are prolonging the life of the use of the fabric. (Did you know that it takes about 800 litres of water to make a single T-shirt?)

For employees, a clean working environment firstly encourages pride in the work place. Your employees are likely to be spending most of their waking hours in your premises, so why wouldn’t you want to keep that place as fresh and motivating as possible? If your employees are expected to clean this area, the job will never be done as thoroughly or regularly as if you had hired that helping hand. Most companies will do their best to motivate their employees at a reasonable cost – external cleaning services are just one of those low-cost solutions that will provide such motivation

Recycling Gold

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

If you were to be able to collect all of the gold which has been mined and extracted from the planet since man began searching for this precious metal, you would have a cube of gold some 22 meters (about 70 feet) along the side – imagine all the gold found since time began is just a cube 70 feet by 70 feet by 70 feet – that fits in a very small office building or a large house.

Shifting, mining, blasting, dissolving in acid, land clearance, people clearance, tons of earth, toxic pollution of billions of gallons of water, and the eradication of numerous species of plant and animal life – all of these things are required in order to extract that relatively small amount of gold.
That is all before we even get to the amounts of energy that have been utilized to power all of these activities.

The environmental cost of mining and extracting gold is simply fantastically, enormous – which is one reason it is currently trading at $900 an ounce!

Fortunately, there is a simple and very easy-win for those who are environmentally conscious and also want to be rewarded for their green efforts – recycling gold and other precious metals costs a fraction of what it does to extract it from the ground.  The vast bulk of the carbon footprint has already been created in getting the gold mined and worked into rings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewelry items.

With a combination of severe recession causing people to look for ways to raise extra money and at the same time, savvy investors looking to invest in gold because the stock market is not a safe place to invest anymore – the price of gold is now historically high and sellers are getting top dollar on their pieces.
Using the following numbers from a “prodcutive” mine, here is how you work out the environmental impact of producing just one little ounce of gold

30 tonnes of ore are required
400 tons of earth have to be shifted in order to extract the 30 tons of ore
3,000 Kw of electricity are required
4000 gallons of water are used up

Remember – all this just to produce one ounce of the bright yellow stuff!
Though the vast majority of the world’s gold has been extracted since 1910 (all those California gold rushes helped settle the American West but they contributed a tiny drop in the ocean for the world’s gold reserves), it is thought that 85% of the total reserves are still in the ground.Even though people are starting to recognize the pollution involved in mining gold, and even though already-extracted gold is stored in bullion deposit centers, “new gold” is still being mined on almost every continent!

Recycling existing gold is clearly a very green and very profitable exercise and if ever there was an environmentally sound, win-win situation, selling old gold is definitely it!
